The Beauty of Anatomical Patterns
X-rays, medical drawings, anatomical patterns and models seem to have exited the cabinet of curiosities and entered your favorite design and fashion stores. Anatomical representations increasingly show up on a large variety of objects, ranging from clothes and accessories to interior design objects, providing an alternative - pacified - way of thinking about our relationship with our biological nature. In a sense, we’ve been here before. Since Leonardo’s time the boundaries between art and science were most of the times virtually indistinguishable. The question now is: What if we could convey some kind of basic biological knowledge through ordinary fashion and design items just as Leonardo, Michelangelo, Dürer did with their works of art?
